USAID: Deputy Program Manager

USAID sponsored Amazon Basin Conservation InitiativeWildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Amazon Conservation Association (ACA),
Fundación Protección y Uso Sostenible del Medio Ambiente (Fundación PUMA),
Fondo de las Américas del Perú (FONDAM), and Sociedad Peruana de DerechoAmbiental (SPDA), have formed a consortium to implement a bi-national,site-based program to promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable useof renewable resources in the Madidi-Manu Conservation Complex (MMCC), anarea of slightly more than 19 million hectares anchored by Madidi NationalPark, in Bolivia, and Manu National Park, in Peru. The consortium has beenfunded by USAID to implement this project under the Amazon BasinConservation Initiative (ABCI). ACA and its partners seek a Deputy ProgramManager to help lead the Manu-Madidi Conservation Complex Consortium in theimplementation of USAID’s 5 year Amazon Basin Conservation Initiative. The Deputy Program Manager has both consortium-level and institutional-level(ACA)
responsibilities.
Consortium Level:Forms part of the Consortium’s Secretariat and together with the ProgramManager, oversees all aspects of Project implementation.Represents the Consortium (together with the Program Manager) in theproject’s Coordination Council, which will also include representatives fromthe Peruvian and Bolivian governments and USAID.Provides leadership for the consortium in all Project areas.
As determined by the Program Manager and MMCC Project Board of Directors,coordinates with other ABCI consortia and other stakeholders includingPeruvian and Bolivian government authorities and private sectorinstitutions.Monitors Consortium compliance with commitments to USAID and other partners.Institutional Level:Serves as ACA’s primary representative to the MMCC consortium.Oversees ACA’s compliance with Project commitments, coordinating with ACAstaff and the staff of Peruvian subcontractor Asociación para laConservación de la Cuenca Amazonica (ACCA) to assure compliance.Monitors and ensures the appropriate use of ACA and ACCA Project funds.Prepares Project reports of ACA/ACCA activities to be presented to WCS andother Consortium members.Identifies additional funding opportunities and works with ACA/ACCA staff todevelop new project proposals.Represents ACA/ACCA to other institutions.Qualifications:
* Advanced degree in a conservation related field
* Minimum 10 years of experience in the implementation and supervisionof conservation projects in tropical areas. *
General understanding of the institutions and laws that govern landmanagement and conservation in Peru and Bolivia.
* Ability to communicate well with stakeholders at all levels.
* Familiarity with USAID regulations preferred.
* Fluency in English and Spanish. Job Location:This position is based in the office of ACCA in Cuzco or Puerto Maldonado,Peru.
